Each frantic snowflake
waltzes to its own solitary
rythm of the wind.
A flurry of white cotton dress
decorating this endless world of
serene, silent beauty.
A fine blanket of snow
protects the icy ground
and frosts the prickled leaves and berries,
details finishing this picture
of bare, towering trees
set against the cloudy white sky,
a stretching pane of translucent heaven,
shielding the newborn earth.
The oak branches hang low,
comforting,
the only defense againt this snowglobe
of the iciest wind
screaming through the land.
Fog plays hide-and-seek with the sky...
everywhere is deserted-
no one dares venture into this
suddenly estranged world
of snow and ice and magic.

"You ask people why they have deer heads on the wall. They always say, Because it's such a beautiful animal. There you go. I think my mother's attractive, but I have photographs of her."
